Transmission: Automatic (Torqueflite-6 Cyl.)

"Scamper"
has been in the family since it was
purchased new in 1971 by my mother. I took it over when she decided
to stop driving, and for about 2 years it was a hard working daily
driver. It now has approximately 75,000 miles on the odometer, but
very few of those miles were travelled in winter. As I continued to
drive it back and forth to work, people would comment on the car, and
I began to realize that it was becoming something of an automotive
rarity. Certainly
most of its cousins (Valiants & Darts) had long since
disappeared. When I bought a new car, I just couldn't part with old
Scamper, so now it is officially retired, venturing out only in the
sunny summer months.

During its working days, and even now, an annual application of oil spray has kept rust away almost entirely. Most mechanical parts seem plentiful enough, but trim items are hard to find: if anyone knows where I can get the plastic covers that conceal the front seat catches, preferably in green, please let me know!

The car is totally original, except for wear parts of course. Most of the paint is original; however, some repainting has been done on the sides to eliminate scratches. The slant six engine seems to be as good as ever.

Scamper puts in an annual appearance at the Stouffville-Whitchurch Anitque and Classic Car show.
